Why a laptop fleet failed at random – and the fix
Problem. New laptops randomly came out half-configured: wrong sign-in screen, no remote access, encryption not compliant. Rebuilding them disrupted the asset database.
What I did. Narrowed the fault to one task of eighteen in the deployment job, wrote read-only diagnostic scripts, and traced the cause to Active Directory replication timing between domain controllers. Built a self-removing workaround that needed no change to the deployment system, and wrote up the permanent fix.
Result. The write-up went to the development team as the basis for the permanent fix.
